Enjoy the wonderful flavour and rich taste of Monakrivo every day in your salads, grilled dishes, appetizers,
and many other dishes, even alone with a bit of bread. To get you started, we have chosen a few recipes.
- Creamy lentil soup drizzled with olive oil
Ingredients
500 gr. lentils
1 bay leaf
1 chopped onion
2 garlic cloves
1 medium size tomato, peeled and without the seeds
4 tablespoons wine vinegar
1 cup extra virgin olive oil
Salt, pepper
Rinse the lentils and put them in a pot with 1 ½ litres water adding the onion, garlic, bay leaf and finely
chopped tomato. Bring to a boil and cook partly covered until thick. Allow to cool, remove the bay leaf and
put them in a blender until velvety smooth in texture. Add half the olive oil to the mixture, season with
salt and pepper, add the vinegar and beat for another 30 seconds. Serve in bowls drizzling each with a few
drops of olive oil and add golden toasted croutons (optional).
- Cretan dakos
Ingredients:
2 large rusks
1 large tomato
100 gr. feta cheese (hard and salty)
Some finely chopped green onion
Sprinkle a bit of water on the rusks to moisten them, grate the tomato and the feta cheese, place the rusks
on a plate and drizzle with olive oil to taste; adding the tomato and top with the feta cheese.
Next add the green onion, capers and sprinkle with oregano. |
